Help! My dog has Issues!!

Q:

I’ve adopted a rescue basset, and he is a little on the thin side. He’s eating Evo dry food, about 2.5 cups a day. I read that you adopted a basset that needed to put on some weight. How long did it take, and did you find any special treats that helped speed up the process? Right now my Herman’s still adjusting to the food and his stools are a little loose, so I don’t want to do anything extreme, but hoped you might have a suggestion or two. Thanks, cute website. I said “ahh” a lot.V.

A:
Vicki,

That's exactly how much food we give our Basset Hound Clare, she is never going to be very big--just muscular. I always wanted a big fatty but it just isn't going to happen....she's a buff machine! LOL

Best of luck and just keep doing what your doing :) Bassets usually do not have any trouble gaining weight. :) I'll try to find some good links for my site soon to help answer some food questions :) As always, please consult your Veterinarian for your pets medical needs.
